Coronavirus: India Reports Nearly 8,000 Fresh COVID-19 Cases

NEW DELHI: India's coronavirus cases count has crossed the 1.70 lakh-mark with the total of  1,73,763 cases and 4,971 deaths. In the last 24 hours, 7,964 fresh cases have been registered and 265 patients died. According to the Health Ministry date, India has 86,423 active cases, while 82,369 persons have recovered and have been discharged.

On Friday, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Assam have recorded the highest single day spike in the number of coronavirus cases. Maharashtra continued to be the worst-hit COVID-19 state with 62,228 positive cases of which 33,133 are active, 2,098 people died. A total of 26,997 have recovered and have been discharged. Tamil Nadu is the second worst hit state with 20,246 COVID-19 cases. The national capital is having the third highest number of cases with a total of 17,386 cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, India is witnessing a steady improvement in COVID-19 recovery rate. The recovery rate further improved to 42.89% as on 29th May, 2020.

Kerala had almost flattened the curve but now the number of COVID-19 cases are increasing. 1,150 cases have been reported of which 577 are active, 565 have recovered while 8 have died. Assam is having 895 active cases. Here is the state wise list of coronavirus cases - West Bengal (4,813), Telangana (2,425), Punjab (2,197), Jammu and Kashmir (2,164), Bihar (3,376) and Andhra Pradesh (3,436). Gujarat reported 15,934 cases, Rajasthan 8,365, Madhya Pradesh 7,645 and Uttar Pradesh 7,284.
