Complaint Against Mysuru Congress Leader, Kin for Setting Wife Ablaze
Mysuru: A woman died in suspicious circumstances on Saturday at Naatana Halli. According to the police, Santosh and Kavya Rani (28) used to live in KR Nagar, Mysuru district. Santosh is a Congress leader. To contest in the upcoming ZP elections, he had been harassing his wife to bring Rs 15 lakhs from her home.
It is also learned that her in-laws used to torture Kavya. A depressed Kavya informed her parents. On Friday, the woman was found with burn injuries and shifted to the hospital where she died while undergoing the treatment on Saturday. The victim's parents filed a complaint with the KR Nagar police alleging that her husband Santosh, his mother Saradamma, Sowmya and his husband Chandrasekhar set her ablaze.
Recently, in a similar incident, irked by spotting his daughter with her boyfriend, the father of the girl attacked the man, but his daughter got injured. The injured daughter has been admitted to the hospital.
According to details provided by the police Sub-Inspector Hussain Basha, Kukati Siddaiah, a resident of Narasingharaopeta in Gudur is a sheep vendor by profession. His daughter Devayani is pursuing B.Tech from a reputed engineering college. Devayani was in a relationship with Javeed hailing from the same area. The boy is pursuing bachelor’s degree in SV Arts Degree college. Siddaiah goes to the market every Friday to buy some sheep and later to Chennai to sell them.
On Friday early in the morning, Siddaiah left for the market in Chilakuru and his wife Lakshmi was also out on a household chore. Devayani was left alone at the home. She invited her boyfriend Javeed to her house over a phone call. While Javeed was in the house Siddaiah came back from the market as the prices of sheep were not feasible. Upon reaching home, he found Javeed hiding in the house and in a fit of rage attacked Javeed with a knife, but Devayani, got herself in between both the men to rescue her boyfriend. She was left with an injury to her head. Later Neighbors took her to the area hospital. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
