Women protest temple diktat to wear wet clothes for entry
Vanita said that they held a meeting with the trustees on Wednesday and were asked to be present at 6 am on Thursday. We were asked to wear either silk clothes or cotton clothes and if coming in cotton clothes we should take a dip in water.
“Though we were dressed in silk clothes we were prevented by 30 to 40 priests from entering the sanctum,” she said.
Pravin Mundhe, Assitant Superintendent of Police said that under section 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Hindu Places of Public Worship Act a case has been filed against Shri Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust (STDT) trustees and temple priests.
