Unpaid debts continue to haunt Sujana Chowdary

A day after the Congress party demanded TDP MP and newly-inducted Union Minister Sujana Chowdary's resignation from PM Narendra Modi's Cabinet, the Central Bank lodged a complaint saying he defaulted to a tune of Rs 315 crore, a Mauritius bank knocked his door to recover its debts.

The Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) filed a petition in the High Court requesting it to direct Sujana Chowdary to repay the loan amounting to Rs 105.72 crore.
The bank also requested the court to order Sujana Chowdary to repay the amount by selling his assets of the Sujana Chowdary-owned universal industries limited.
The bank had sent notices to Sujana Chowdary and gave him some months' time to repay the loan, but the TDP leader failed to repay the amount. The court posted the matter for further hearing on November.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Sujana Chowdary, who is one of the richest MPs with assets of about Rs.190 crore, will come to an understanding with the bank or repay the amount.
