This Model Embraces Her ‘Dark Colour’ With Pride

At a time when body-shaming on social media has gone to newer heights and at a time when celebrities are on fairness cream endorsement spree, a 24-year-old South Sudanese model feels proud about her black colours and takes on social media trolls in a refreshing manner.

Nyakim Gatwech says she is proud of the color and feels it as a blessing. She took to Instagram to tell a tale of how an Uber driver asked her if she would bleach her skin if given 10000 dollars.

She laughed it off and said, “Why on earth would I ever bleach this beautiful melanin God blessed me with. Then he said: So you look at it as a blessing? She then wrote: You won’t believe the kind of questions I get and the kind of looks I get for having this skin.”

She says that she keeps hearing such weird questions and people giving blank stares but Gatwech takes all of them with a pinch of salt. Currently living in Minneapolis with an over 89,000 followers on Instagram, she terms herself as the Queen of Dark.
