High Court Stays Hiking of Film Tickets In The First Week
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has stayed the single judge verdict that enabled film exhibitors to hike the ticket prices in the first week of the film's release.
Last year, Durga Raja Kalamandir, a theater in Karimnagar, received the orders from single judge allowing it to increase in the price of tickets during the first week. Challenging the judgement, Cine Prekshakula Viniyogadarula Sangham filed a petition in the court that the theater management had got the orders by keeping under wraps several rules.
A bench comprising of chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice T Rajani has dealt with the appeal and stayed the verdict. While staying the order of the single judge, the bench directed the correspondents to file counter-affidavits. The bench also pointed out that the order of the single judge is not applicable only to this specified theater.
