Think Before You Rent Out To Foreign Students!
Hyderabad: If you are renting your flat to foreign national students think twice or else you may end up in jail. The house owners should secure particulars of those foreign students, who come as tenants, and register with the Foreign Regional Registration Offices (FRRO).
With not much awareness about this, owners are facing trouble from the police. Foreign students continue to overstay even after the expiry of their visas. Eventually, they are evading arrest.
At least 14 foreign nationals, who were overstaying even after their visas had expired, were arrested during a surprise check by the task force police at various locations in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
In the wake of growing concern over civilian security, the Hyderabad police conducted raids in Asifnagar, Langar houz, Osmania University and Malakpet.
Under Section 7(3) and 7(4) of the Foreigners Act - 1946, the house owners who give shelter to the foreign national students illegally will be prosecuted and can be sentenced to five years imprisonment if found guilty.
