Hyderabad: Noted Telugu film critic Mahesh Kathi has received threat messages from actor Pawan Kalyan's fans over the former's harsh review of Katamarayudu.

Mahesh on his Facebook post called the movie "a badly written" with " predictable screenplay". His post created a storm on social media with trollers abusing him and even threatening to assault him at his house claiming to know his house address. They have insisted Mahesh to tender apology for his film’s review.

"#Katamarayudu - baseless story, predictable screenplay. Pawan Kalyan tried his best to save a badly written film with his style. Rest of the actors are reduced to cameos. Villains who can make hero strong act like jokers. Strictly for PK fans and rest can stay away,” Mahesh's Facebook post.

However, Mahesh didn't budge and stood firm on his opinion. He posted, "When I review a movie, I see the story and substance, which are rare in the Telugu film industry. Whenever I write a negative review about any big star’s movie, this has always been the case. I get threats and abusive messages. But this is my opinion about the movie and I stand by it. A movie might make 1000 crores at the box office but what my opinion will remain my opinion."

'Katamarayudu' a remake of Tamil film 'Veeram' has opened to mixed-reviews. The movie hit the screen on March 24, helmed by Kishore Kumar Pardasani. The movie was bankrolled by Pawan's close friend Sharrath Marar and has music score by Anup Rubens.
