Kiosk, Atmospheric Water Generator Installed At Secunderabad Station - Sakshi Post

SECUNDERABAD: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the South Central Railway (SCR) installed an 'Atmospheric Water Generator', Kiosk on platform no.1 at Secunderabad Railway Station here on Thursday.

What is An 'Atmospheric Water Generator' Kiosk?

Kiosk is a system in which water is directly harvested from the air through a series of steps instead of taking water from sources.

The generator allows air to flow into the machine through a filtration system.

It filters out the contaminants present in the moisture-laden air after which the filtered air passes through cooling chamber where the air will be condensed.

The condensed air is then converted into water and the drops of water are stored in a tank.

The Water Kiosk is estimated to produce around 1,000 litres per day.

According to reports, it is proposed to charge Rs 8 per litre along with bottle and Rs 5 per litre if passengers bring their own containers.

SCR Chief Public Relations Officer Ch Rakesh said to a daily, that the kiosk is installed as part of Green Initiatives and Water Conservation measures being adopted by South Central Railway. He also added that SCR is planning to install similar kiosks in other railway stations also.

"The water produced under this system fulfills the norms of World Health Organisation and also Indian standards for consumption and is also approved by the Ministry of Jal Shakti as safe and healthy drinking water," he said to the daily.
