Technical Glitch Delays Hyderabad Metro Service For An Hour

Hyderabad: Commuters who boarded the Metro train on Tuesday night were in for a hassle as the metro stations on Corridor 1 of Hyderabad Metro Rail witnessed multiple delays.

While the halt resulting in a delay of over an hour, an announcement of a technical glitch was made across all the stations of Corridor 1.

As per the details, a technical problem in the Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling was reported resulting in the train near LB Nagar station running in 'Restricted mode' moving at a speed of 25km/hour as a precautionary measure.

This caused a cascading effect on the other trains since there were many trains running on Miyapur-LB Nagar route. The train was halted repeatedly at multiple stations between 9 pm to 10.30 pm.

The other trains also got delayed as well with several passengers waiting for the Metro trains at the stations between LB Nagar and Miyapur.

Anil Kumar Saini, COO of Railway Systems, L&T Metro Rail shared that the issue was resolved in half an hour which affected all the other trains on the corridor. He mentioned that the functioning of the CBTC technology used in the trains might have been affected due to the weather conditions and pollution levels but they are planning to resolve the issue in the next few days.

The Managing Director at Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) NVS Reddy admitted to the technical glitch advised the L&T to request the company, Thales which supplied the CBTC signaling system to make the necessary changes to adapt to the conditions and pollution levels in the country.
