Rythu Bandhu Scheme: Rs 6,900 Cr Sanctioned For Kharif

Hyderabad: In a major boost to farmers in Telangana, the state government on Monday sanctioned the release of Rs 6,900 crore for the implementation of Rythu Bandhu scheme in the ensuing Kharif season which begins in June. On the occasion of the Telangana Formation Day on June 2, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced the decision to provide financial assistance to farmers under Rythu Bandhu scheme for Kharif during his speech.

Keeping in view the Model Code Conduct (MCC) in force due to ZPTC and MPTC election counting, the release of funds to farmers will take place after June 8. The arrears of Rs 800 crore for Yasangi season, which was not released due to MCC, will be released shortly.

The officials have been directed to ensure that the funds are directly deposited into the farmers' bank accounts. A State-level Monitoring Committee has been formed to supervise the implementation of the scheme. Approximately 58.33 lakh farmers will benefit from the scheme.

Starting this year, the farmers will get Rs 5,000 per acre as an incentive, each for Rabi and Kharif crops in every agricultural season. Earlier, the farmers were given Rs 4,000 as an incentive.

KCR also announced Rs 1 lakh towards loan waiver and the farmers, who have pattadar passbooks and ROFR pattas are entitled to get the benefit. So far, the government has distributed passbooks to 58.33 lakh farmers having 1.43 cr cultivable lands in Telangana.
