NGK Telugu A Box Office Disaster: Has Suriya Lost His Market?
Suriya is one of the most talented actors who has carved niche himself in Telugu and Tamil film industry. Suriya is one of the most loved celebrities in Chennai and has a solid fan following.
His recent release 'NGK' is doing pretty well in Chennai. He is on a high over 'NGK' success. It was also dubbed into Telugu with the same title but it failed to live up to the audience's expectations. Previously, the audiences have welcomed and loved Suriya's previous movies like ‘Ghajini’, 'Yamudu' and 'Singham'.
Now, they are not showing any kind of interest to rush to the theatres to watch his movies. Has Suriya market declined in Telugu? Suriya's 'NGK' released in theatres last week which did a pre-release business of Rs 8 Cr. It seems very hard for 'NGK' to become a profitable venture in Telugu states.
Talking about collections, Suriya's 'NGK' has managed to collect Rs 1 Cr alone in Nizam area by the opening weekend. The other movie which released alongside NGK is “Falaknuma Das' which was able to earn Rs 1.65 Cr. It's shocking to witness Suriya, who has fame and name is facing rejection at the box office. 'Falaknuma Das' is performing fairly better than NGK.
Apparently, Suriya's market in Telugu might have crashed down and he is no longer considered as a big star in Telugu for dubbed movies.
NGK, which is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, is expected to become the third biggest opener after Rajinikanth's Petta and Ajith Kumar's Viswasam. Directed by Selvaraghavan, NGK is a political action-drama and features Suriya in an intense role.
