RTC Bonanza for Back Benchers
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has announced a bonanza for passengers who book the last seats on its buses.
The state-owned corporation will provide a 20 percent discount on tickets booked on the nine seats of the last two rows on all its long distance buses, APSRTC Managing Director Sambasiva Rao said. Further, a passenger who books a ticket for more than 250 kilometers of journey will also get free ride on any city bus for the next two hours post the long distance journey, he said.
While the move is good news for the travelling public, on an operational front the RTC intends to increase the occupancy on its buses as the passengers generally do not prefer the last seats. The decision which will come into effect immediately will be applicable on Deluxe, Super Luxury, Indra, Garuda, Garuda Plus and other long distance services, Sambasiva Rao said.
The Managing Director also clarified that the RTC was not making operational losses in the current financial year. The revenue for the current year as on date is Rs. 4,101 crores compared to Rs. 3960 crores last year, he said.
