Four People Missing as Boat Capsizes in Godavari - Sakshi Post

Karimnagar: Four people were reported missing as a boat capsized in Godavari river at Mettapalli in Mahadevapur mandal of the district on Sunday.

The private country boat was carrying 26 passengers including six crew. The boat was on its way from Kaleshwaram to Sironcha in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra when the mishap occurred. An inter-state bridge is being constructed on the Godavari river that links Chintalapalli village in Gadchiroli district of Mahrashtra with Mettapalli in Mahadevapur mandal of Karimnagar district. Fishermen in the area transport people of both the villages by boat across the river. As part of the daily routine fishermen were transporting villagers on Sunday when the motor of the boat got entangled in the bridge welding wires and capsized.
Showing presence of mind, the fishermen rescued several of their passengers and shifted them to the banks of the river. One of the four missing persons has been identified as Vamshi of Adivarampet. Search is on to trace the missing persons.
