Rahul Gandhi in Anantapur: YSRCP slams Congress
Terming the Rahul Gandhi’s tour of Andhra Pradesh as a desperate political move to gain a foothold in the state, YSR Congress has said that the Congress vice-president has suddenly woke up from a deep slumber and is now trying to console the farmers and he criticizing the Opposition is ridiculous.
“Rahul Gandhi who did not react to the major issues that have been affecting the State suddenly descended on the State only with ulterior and political motives as the Congress Party, which was responsible for division of the state, was and is working in tandem with TDP,’ Party leader K Parthasradhi told reporters on Friday.
Rahul Gandhi pointing his accusing finger towards the Opposition Party in the State should make it clear as to why the Congress Party did not raise in Parliament the issue of the tragedy at Godavari Pushkarams and the encounter deaths of Tamil Nadu workers at Sheshachalam forest.
It was YSR who has laid foundation stone for Polavaram project and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has undertaken padayatra for the expedition of the project. Congress Party did to raise the issue at the Centre and the poor allocation of funds for the project so far. The Party did not speak on behalf of the Special Status for the State at any point of time.
It was the main Opposition YSR Congress that has taken up the issue of Polaravam, special status and others with the Centre time and again and Rahul Gandhi now coming to town and talking tall will be of no help to him or his Party.
The entire exercise seems to be sponsored by TDP as the two parties have worked in tandem on earlier occasions and there is no reason as to why they should not do it now, he said.
While it was YSR who paved way for Congress victory in the State in 2004 and 2009, the party was wiped out and has no scope of any revival, he said as the Party and leaders, including Digvijay Singh, Jairam Ramesh and others have made a mockery of the sentiments of Telugu people.
