Sakshi Maharaj asks Owaisi to go to Pakistan for Memon remarks
New Delhi: BJP leader Sakshi Maharaj has kicked up a controversy with his latest remarks on AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.
The BJP leader lashed out at the MP from Hyderabad for his comments on the execution of Yakub Memon, the solo death row convict of the 1993 Mumbai Blast.
In a fresh exchange of communal statements, Owaisi had earlier said that Yakub is being punished for being a Muslim and the Centre in indulging in criminal discrimination to which Maharaj replied “ People who can’t respect the judiciary and the Indian system can go to Pakistan. The door is open.
The court is punishing him not us," he added.
Though Maharaj’s comments received criticism from social media users for his hate remarks. Following the attack, Owaisi too took to the social media to clarify his stance on the entire episode.
Yakub memon is identified as a prime accused in the serial blast case that killed 257 people and injured 700 more. His death execution is scheduled for July 30. However he filed a mercy plea with the Supreme Court, the hearing for which is slated on July 27.
