Police In ‘Mufti’ Stage Drama At Dharna Chowk; Locals Clash With Agitators
Hyderabad: In what seems to be a deliberate act from the Telangana government to thwart agitation to save Dharna Chowk, women police constables including a circle-inspector of Police on Monday caused flutter when they came to protest in 'mufti' by carrying placards.
The women police raised slogans — "Dharna Chowk Vaddu, Indira Park Muddu" (Indira Park is better than Dharna Chowk). After noticing the media persons arriving at the venue and started recording the video, the women police personnel along with CI disappeared from the scene.
The women circle-inspector Sri Devi and constables are working at Lake View police station.
Dharna Chowk issue has become a bone of contention with the Telangana JAC chairman M Kodandaram with the support from opposition parties and Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party had been opposing tooth and nail against the government's proposal to shift the venue to city outskirts citing traffic inconvenience to residents in the city.
Tension prevailed at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad when the locals clashed with the agitators. Several residents belonging to Walkers Association in the nearby colonies suffered injuries when they clashed with the agitators of the left parties and TJAC. The protest lead to scuffle at the venue before the police personnel took the situation under control.
