For rejecting to give him a seat, a constable allegedly fired at a passenger in the train on Tuesday night. The incident occurred near Nandyala in Kurnool district.

According to railway police, Singa Rao, a farmer of Bollapalle in Prakasam district, took some land on lease in Karnataka and was returning to his village in Yeswantapur Express train sleeping on a berth. Ramachandra Goud, a constable of Kurnool district boarded the train at Panyam station.

He asked Singa Rao to get up and give a space to sit. When Singa Rao rejected, Goud fired at him with his service revolver. Singa Rao was shifted to Nandyala with bullet injuries. Later, he was rushed to Kurnool Government hospital for better treatment. Ramachandra Goud was in railway police custody. Singa Rao was recovering at the hospital, doctors said.
