IIT Hyderabad: 119 Students, Staff Test Positive For COVID-19
India reported 2,47,417 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending at 9 am on Thursday. The number of cases increasing rapidly. At the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad campus, 119 students and staff tested positive for COVID-19 between January 6 and January 11.
22 Undergraduate students, 14 postgraduate students, seven research scholars, one regular staff member, outsourced plumber tested positive for COVID-19. And the remaining tested positive for covid-19 over the past week. COVID-19 Positive students said that they are in isolation and are staying on the top floors of hostel buildings.
BS Murthy, Director, IIT Hyderabad said that they have made isolation arrangements for the students who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are not allowed to step outside. He further stated that they are providing medicines and food and their health is being monitored regularly. He also said that students who want to leave the campus are free to go.
In Telangana, a total of 2,319 fresh cases have been reported on Wednesday taking the total tally to 7,00,094. More cases were reported in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
