4 Labourers Killed in Opencast Mine Blast In Ramagundam

PEDDAPALLI: At least four daily wage labourers were killed in an accidental blast in the Singareni Collieries opencast mines in Ramagundam of Peddapalli district on Tuesday. The explosion took place in the OCP-1 opencast mine area.

According to information, the tragedy occurred when a team of six labourers was setting up explosives for carrying out controlled blasts. Blasting of huge boulders that come in the way of mining are routinely carried out across all the opencast mines.

The deceased have been identified as Rakesh and Praveen of Godavari Khani, Rajesh hailing from Kamanpur and another belonging to Ratnapur. The two others in the team, Venkatesh of Kamanpur and Bhimaiah of Ratnapur, sustained grievous injuries. They are being treated in a nearby hospital.

Unconfirmed reports claim that five labourers were killed in the accidental blast in the Ramagundam opencast mine.
