George Floyd: US Police Showing Solidarity With 'Black Lives Matter' Protestors Wins Hearts

WASHINGTON: As protests across the United States continued following the death of George Floyd, policemen from different states of the US showed their solidarity condeming the custodial death of the African-American man by white police officer Derek Chauvin.
The video of Miami police kneeling down for a moment to show solidarity with protestors have gone viral with many calling it as a step in the right direction. Not just Miami police, sherrifs across various cities have also showed solidarity.
The nationwide protests sparked by the killing of Floyd have left at least five people dead. Floyd, a 46-year-old man was pinned to the ground in Minneapolis last week by Chauvin who kneeled on his neck as he gasped for breath. On Monday, an official postmortem declared Floyd's death a homicide.
President Donald Trump has threatened to deploy the military if the states fail to take necessary actions to "dominate the streets" and "quell" the violent protests that have spread across the country.
The white police officer, Derek Chauvin, has been charged with third-degree murder and will appear in court next week. Three other police officers have been fired.
Considered to be the worst ever civil unrest in the US in decades, the violent protests have engulfed at least 140 cities across America in the days following the death of Floyd. Over 4,000 people have been arrested and curfews imposed in at least 40 cities.

This is how Miami police met crowds protesting the death of George Floyd and the scourge of racism in America.
This is how you bridge the divide between police and the community it fails to serve. Recognizing that there is a problem and CALLING FOR STRUCTURAL CHANGE. pic.twitter.com/h00ZVjQLl5
