BMTC Launches Free ‘Oxygen on Wheel’ For COVID Patients Waiting Near Hospitals in Bengaluru
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), along with NGOs has launched the ‘Oxygen on Wheel’ initiative at Victoria Hospital on Thursday.
This initiative has been taken up in order to provide oxygen to Covid patients waiting near hospitals.
The transport utility has tied up with several NGOs, including Foundation India. It modified a non-AC bus into an oxygen bank with two concentrators and four cylinders, which will attend to six patients at a time. A similar facility was started in Chennai by Jain International Trade Organisation.

Officials said, "The bus will be placed at Victoria Hospital from Thursday, 10.30 am to 6 pm. It will be free for people on a first-come-first-served basis by calling 9731007191. We are planning to convert more buses based on the need and if more NGOs come forward."
Deputy CM Ashwath Narayan said that the door delivery initiative of oxygen supplies is made available in Malleshwaram and Koramangala and will soon be available across the city and the state. He also the people to return the concentrators using the Ola app to be used to treat other patients.
