Telangana May Impose Total Lockdown Without Relaxation Till May 30?
Telangana reported 4,723 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the tally to 5,11,711, while the death toll rose to 2,834 with 31 more deaths, according to a government bulletin. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 745, followed by Rangareddy (312) and Medchal Malkajgiri (305), the bulletin said.
The state has 59,133 active cases and over 69,000 samples were tested. There is a buzz going around that the Telangana government might extend the lockdown till May 30 and there is a chance of a full lockdown without any relaxation.
Maharashtra and other states in the country are extending the lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the state till June 1. Telangana is experiencing an increase in COVID cases day by day and people in the state are not following any guidelines of lockdown. Some sources say that the relaxation period that is from 6 am to 10 am may extend for an hour or two. Karnataka is now at No.1 with a higher number of of COVID cases than Maharashtra.
There is no official confirmation about the imposition of a total lockdown in Telangana yet. However, sources say that if the COVID caseload doesn't drop then the government will have no option but to follow Karnataka and Maharashtra.
