Who was Mahant Narendra Giri, the seer who, according to Uttar Pradesh police, committed suicide?
'It is murder,' claims Anand Giri, a disciple of Narendra Giri who is suspected of killing Mahant.
One of Mahant Narendra Giri's disciples, Anand Giri, stated that he (Mahant Ji) did not commit suicide because of him, but that there was a disagreement with others about Muth's property.
Mahant Narendra Giri Death: Followers of Mahant Narendra Giri, one of the country's most powerful Hindu seers, discovered him hanging from a fan in his chamber in Allahabad's Baghambari Math on Monday evening. Giri, 62, committed suicide, according to the police.
Giri allegedly wrote a suicide note in which he blamed a disciple called Anand Giri with whom he had been involved in a property dispute until recently, according to the police.
A supposed suicide note was also discovered at the location, in which the seer claimed that one of his disciples had caused him mental distress and that he was terminating his life. According to the police, he had also allocated various responsibilities to his disciples in the note.
Meanwhile, IGP KP Singh stated that at 5.30 p.m., police received a call from the Muth reporting that Giri had hung himself. According to the authorities, it looked to be a suicide at first glance, but the post-mortem and forensic testing will provide more information.
Swami Anand Giri, a disciple identified in Mahant Narendra Giri's suicide note recovered in the room where the latter was found dead, has claimed innocence, claiming that it is all part of a large conspiracy.
Anand Giri stated that he (Mahant Narendra Giri) did not commit suicide as a result of him, but that there was a disagreement with others about Muth's property.
This conspiracy, according to Anand Giri, was orchestrated by those who misappropriated Muth's funds and built large homes.
The disciple also stated that there was previously a problem between him and Mahant Ji over the sale of Muth's land, but that the issue was settled in May. Those who were dissatisfied with the decision, on the other hand, attempted to put pressure on Muth.
Anand Giri said that numerous other individuals were pressuring Muth to sell his land so that they could profit from the proceeds. He mentioned Manish Shukla and Abhishek Mishra, among others.
Anand Giri, on the other hand, has been arrested in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, for the time being.
Adya Tiwari, the head priest of the Hanuman Temple in Prayagraj, and his son Sandeep Tiwari were also held by police after their names were included in Mahant Narendra Giri's suicide note.
It should be noted that Anand Giri, who was formerly regarded to be a close disciple of Narendra Giri, had a property dispute with the Mahant. The relationship had deteriorated to the point that Mahant had forced Anand Giri out of the Muth. More information will be revealed pending a police investigation.
