- *KCR orders to complete Metro works by April 2017
- *Metro services from Falaknama, Rayidurgam to Shamshabad
Telangana CM, KCR felt that those who designed the metro rail project earlier ignored the international airport. So, he now suggests to extend the route till Shamshabad. He reviewed the ongoing metro rail work, said the metro rail should be available to people travelling by major railway and bus stations. The metro rail should connect the airport with Falaknuma and Rayadurgam localities, he suggested.
The metro rail in Hyderabad should be useful not just for the residents but also those visiting the city and the rail and air passengers, KCR added. The acceptance of proposal by L & T is not known yet. He noted that the metro work, which began in March 2012, is going on as expected and is scheduled to be completed by April 2017. He had agreed to provide electricity to metro rail project at subsidised rates.
The state government has allocated Rs 2,000 crore for the project. KCR directed the metro rail project officials to take the help of state police and prepare the security strategy in consultation with the police officials. He also suggested implementing the security system adopted by Delhi metro rail authorities.
