Man who stabbed passengers on RTC bus held
Andhra Pradesh police today claimed to have solved the alleged murder of three passengers brutally murdered in a Chennai-bound APSRTC bus last month after the arrest of a person.
An unidentified assailant allegedly stabbed to death three passengers and injured another seriously near Tada in Nellore district while sleeping in a Chennai-bound state-owned APSRTC bus in the wee hours of July 26. The accused identified as D Srinivas Rao alias Sreenu (33) was arrested at Vijayawada yesterday, Nellore district Superintendent of Police (SP) B V Ramana Kumar said.
Srinivas Rao, a jilted lover, was jailed on charges of allegedly teasing a girl in the year 2010 by Manubolu police in Nellore district. Later, he came out on bail and decided to take revenge on the Manubolu police station sub-inspector who had probed the eve-teasing case. The accused learnt two months ago that the sub-inspector who investigated his case worked at the Tada police station in Nellore district. He even sent a SMS to the sub-inspector on June 16 stating that I won't leave you, the SP said.
Srinivas Rao, who worked at a Vijayawada medical shop, boarded a Bhadrachalam-Chennai bus at Ongole on August 25 night to go to Tada, he said. After a petty quarrel, he first stabbed a passenger at about 3.45 am and later attacked three others with a sharp knife. He fled the scene, when the bus driver stopped after hearing passengers screaming, he said.
