Two Indians convicted of murder have been executed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Ministry of External Affairs has identified the individuals as Mohammed Rinash and PV Muraleedharan, both from Kannur, Kerala.

Rinash was convicted for the murder of a UAE national, while Muraleedharan was convicted for killing an Indian national.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the duo was sentenced to death on February 28. All legal assistance was provided to them. Despite filing mercy petitions and requests for pardon to the UAE government, the death penalty could not be commuted, as both individuals were charged with murder.

MEA officials also stated that arrangements have been made for the families of Rinash and Muraleedharan to travel to the UAE to perform the final rites.

This development comes just days after 30-year-old Shahjadi Sabbeer Khan, a native of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, was executed in Abu Dhabi on February 15. She was convicted of murdering a four-month-old infant, the child of the couple she used to work for.
