Man Commits Suicide By Touching Live Wires After Quarreling With Wife
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a man ended his life by touching live wires after he climbed an electric pole following a brawl with his wife. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Medipally village of Moinabad mandal in the district.
According to police, the deceased, who was identified as Podugu Mahesh(26), clung to the electric pole for more than 20 minutes and threatened the family members of committing suicide.
Mahesh, a resident of Gopulapuram village, got married to one Sujatha a few years ago. His wife Sujatha came to her relatives house in Medipally village two days back. On Sunday evening, Mahesh came to see her to the village. The couple got into an altercation over a petty issue. Immediately, Mahesh came out from the house and climbed a electric pole nearby and threatened his wife to commit suicide. Mahesh also rang up his mother on mobile phone and told her that he was committing suicide.
Her mother, who was going from Medipally to Gopalapuram village, called off her journey midway and returned for her son. As Mahesh was clung to electric pole, the villagers frantically called up the Assistant Engineer (AE) of the Electrical Department to cut power supply to the village. The villagers also called up the lineman but in no wain. Meanwhile, as the time passed on, Mahesh suffered a shock after he touched the wires and fell to the ground. The death was instantaneous for Mahesh. The villagers alleged that Mahesh's life would have been saved had if the Electricity officials reacted to the calls on time.
