Telangana Tribal Student Team Scales Mt.Kilimanjaro
Hyderabad: A class 10 tribal student from Telangana scaled the highest peak Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa on Monday. Mallesh Naini along with a team of 13 members from India after scaling the peak unfurled a 100-ft tricolor midnight on Monday. They sang the national anthem atop of the peak which is 19,341 feet above sea level.
Mallesh, as a mark of respect to the government displayed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao's picture along with the photograph of tribal hero Komaram Bheemu.
Mallesh studies in Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential School (TSWREI) in Asifabad. The students scaled the peak under the mentorship of mountaineer Sekhar Babu. Recounting his expedition, Mallesh says, "I never thought that I would make it here one day. I come from a poor family and this kind of expedition helps boost self-confidence.”
Dr RS Praveen Kumar, TSWREI Secretary pointed out that the state government is providing lot of schemes for the marginalized students.
