Lightning kills six as rain devastation continues
About six persons died of lightning in Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts on Sunday as heavy rain lashed the region with strong gales with a speed of 100 km.
Electric poles and huge trees were uprooted in Prakasam district and vehicular traffic was disrupted in Muppavaram, Boodavada and Inkollu villages. Heavy rain lashed at J Pangaluru, Addanki, Ongole and Kandukuru mandals of Prakasam district. Three persons died of lightning in the district. Venkateswarlu, 30, a farm labourer who migrated from Kothakota in Mahaboobnagar was killed when he was removing weeds in the field.
Anjamma, 60, a farm wroker was killed when the lightning struck at Balusupadu and Buchi Sinmgaram, 62, was killed in Marturu mandal. Two people were killed in Guntur district and another person died in Krishna district. Adamma, 45, was killed when she was harvesting groundnut at Arepalli in Cherukupalli mandal in Guntur district. Another woman Tangu Ramana was shifted to hospital with serious burns sustained due to thunder lightning.
