High Court Seeks to Know Centre and State stand on HCU VC Appa Rao - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Hearing on the petition filed by Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao, the Hyderabd High Court on Monday served notices to the Centre, state government and authorities of Higher Education and police department seeking to know their stand on the continuation of Prof. P Appa Rao as University of Hyderabad (UoH) vice-chancellor.

Hanumantha Rao has filed a petition for removal of Appa Rao for his inability in handling university matters and creating a chaotic atmosphere on the campus which led to research scholar Rohith Vemula's death.

However, during the process of questioning by the bench Hanumanth Rao got furious and agitated and rushed towards the judge, to which, the bench ordered that he be sent out of the court hall. The case has been adjourned for further hearing for June 28.

Rohith Vemula, a suspended research scholar committed suicide on January 17, which triggered controversy across the academia in the country.
