Has Congress High Command decided on Telangana?
Looks like it. Going by the developments and reports, the Congress High Command has reportedly taken a call on the contentious Telangana statehood issue.
According to highly placed sources, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy hinted to Seemandhra ministers that the decision on Telangana has been taken. However, the Centre is yet to decide the capital of Seemandhra, sources added.
It is being said that Kiran Reddy directed the Seemandhra leaders to write a letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi requesting her to stall the process of the division of the state. Seemandhra leaders have sent a letter to Sonia Gandhi through a ‘mediator’. In the letter, they have reportedly mentioned that they would resign from their posts and the party, if the state division becomes inevitable. Five MPs and several ministers have signed on the letter, it is learnt. Kiran Reddy has been trying to stall the process till the end of the local body polls. The CM also presented his views before the state affairs in-charge Digivijaya Singh and Ghulam Nabi Azad but was told that the decision had been made.
There have been further speculations that the decision taken by the Congress has been passed on to the chief Minister after he appeared dull and low. It must be mentioned that Kiran Reddy has been at the forefront of the opposition to the division of the state.
Seemandhra leaders including central ministers held a meeting for one and half an hour in the morning at AP Bhavan in New Delhi. It is learnt , after reports that the division of the state was just a matter of time, the leaders once again met at Union Minister for Textiles Kavuri Sambasiva Rao's residence to discuss the same.
