Donkey's milk commands Rs.6,000
The price of a liter of donkey's milk commanded a price of Rs. 6,000, in Mancherial mandal of Adilabad district on Wednesday.
About 80 donkeys were brought to Anaparti to sell donkey's milk. Since there is a belief that donkey's milk cures obesity, allergy and joint pains, people thronged in large number to purchase the milk. Following the demand, the donkey owners promptly jacked-up the price to Rs.6,000 a liter.
Since each donkey gives only upto 200 to 250 milliliters of milk, people started paying in advance for the next day's milk.
The price of milk in surrounding mandals is reported to be around Rs.2,000 a liter, but the Anaparti people just changed that.
