Cell Phones to be sold by Post Offices in Madhya Pradesh - Sakshi Post

Madhya Pradesh: Indian government has taken a digital step to get it modernized. As a part of Digital India Initiative Madhya Pradesh government introduced the concept of selling the cell phones through postal offices.

 

Chief postmaster general of Madhya Pradesh Circle ME Haq today handed over the first mobile phone handset to a buyer, launching sale of mobile phones from head post offices.

 

The department joined hands with state-run operator BSNL and with a private company in Noida, Pantel Technologies, to sell mobile phones through its offices in the state. In line with the Digital India initiative, India Post and BSNL have entered into an agreement with Pantel Technologies Private Limited to sell Penta Bharat Phone PF 301 through the post offices, an official said.

 

The phone is priced at Rs 1,999, and it comes with 1,999 minutes of free talk time from BSNL over a period of 18 months.The phone comes with features like .8-inch screen, dual-sim functionality, FM radio, audio player, torch, and camera, and internet connectivity. Initially the phones will be sold at head post offices , and major post offices in the state, and later it on other post offices will also be covered.

 

The launch came after a pilot sale in four southern states, which the officials claimed was a big success. Over 70,000 phones were sold in a period of less than a year, and the project was being launched in other states too, a postal department official had said.
