Chittoor MLA’s brother-in-law blackmailed, accused arrested

Chitoor: One Town Police of Chitoor have arrested a labour contractor on Monday for blackmailing DK Badri Narayana, brother-in-law of Chittoor MLA Satya Prabha.

According to Umamaheshwar, one town SI, the accused Sai Ganesh, hailing from Puthalapattu Mandal has worked as labour contractor with Badri. Harshini, daughter of Badri was married to Vivek, son of Rammohan Rao, an IAS officer at Principal Secretary office of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa few years back.

In 2013, Badri's daughter and son-in-law borrowed Rs 1 crore from Sai Ganesh to start new business. After few days, Ganesh stated threatening them that he would tell everybody about this. He later blackmailed them and demanded Rs 10 crore to not let this out.

Ten days ago, Badri filed a complaint at Chitoor police station stating that Ganesh threatened to kill him once Chintu, the prime accuse in Chitoor Mayor’s murder comes out of jail.

Police have registered the case and during interrogation it was found through Vivek's bank account Rs 1 crore was already repaid to Ganesh. On Sunday, Ganesh who was in Hyderabad was arrested under IPC 420, 454, 386, 387, 506, 448 r/w 34 sections. He was later produced at the court, where Raghavendra, Magistrate of Chitoor third additional Munsiff, remanded Ganesh to 14 days custody. Police have registered cases against Ganesh’s followers and are investigating.
