Chiru dashes letter to Azad on power tariff hike

Union Minister for Tourism K Chiranjeevi on Sunday dashed a letter to Union Minister and in-charge of AP affairs Gulam Nabi Azad seeking his intervention on the power tariff hike in the State.

In his letter, Chiranjeevi observed that the decision to hike charges now was not appropriate time to hike electricity charges as the elections were round the corner at the centre as well as in the State. He also maintained that it was unfair to take a decision on the power charges without a debate in the party. Seeking his immediate intervention on the issue, Chiru asked Azad to convene a meeting of PCC coordination committee to discuss the issue.
