CBI court asks Srilakshmi to surrender on Mar 21
The CBI court on Monday ordered IAS officer Srilakshmi, accused in the OMC scam to surrender before the court on March 21.
Srilakshmi, who was suspended by the State Government following her involvement in the OMC scam, was presently under interim bail granted on the health grounds. She had sought extension as her bail period was about to expire on March 20.
However, the CBI court on Monday asked Srilakshmi to surrender before it on March 21 and further directed the Chanchalguda Central Prison authorities to take her to Osmania General Hospital for check-up and produce her medical reports on March 25. Based on the medical report, the court, on the same date, will give its final order on to whether extends her bail or cancel it. Srilakshmi will be lodged in Chanchalguda jail after her surrender.
Earlier, Srilakshmi urged the CBI court to extend the interim bail till completion of investigation into the case, saying she was taking treatment for regaining the lost sensation in her left lower limb in CMC Hospital at Vellore in Tamil Nadu. The CBI had opposed her plea last week arguing about her involvement in several other cases apart from the illegal mining case. The central agency has already got Centre's nod for sanction to prosecute Srilakshmi under Prevention of Corruption Act.
