YS Jagan Promises 5 Acres For PV Sindhu’s Badminton Academy In Vizag

Tadepalli: Ace shuttler PV Sindhu paid a courtesy call to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Tadepalli on Friday. He felicitated PV Sindhu for winning the gold medal at the BWF World Championships on August 25 and promised to allot five acres of land for her to set up a badminton academy in Visakhapatnam.

She was accompanied by her parents, state youth affairs minister M Srinivas Rao along with officials from the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.

PV Sindhu had became the first Indian to win a World Championship gold medal by defeating Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in the finals of the tournament held in Basel on August 25.

Speaking to the media after meeting YS Jagan, PV Sindhu said the she met him as a courtesy call and was happy to share that he had promised five acres of land for setting up a badminton academy in Visakhapatnam. She also expressed her happiness that her name was recommended for the Padma Bhushan by the State Government. The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has organised a special felicitation ceremony for PV Sindhu at the Thummala Kalakshethram in Vijayawada and the Chief Minister is likely to attend the event to he held on Friday evening.

PV Sindhu also went to Vijayawada and met the Governor Biswabushan Harichandan at Raj Bhawan.He congratulated PV Sindhu for achieving the gold medal and wished her success in future matches as well and bring laurels to the country.
