NCW Takes Up Tadikonda Dalit MLA Vundavalli Sridevi’s Complaint
New Delhi: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) P MLA from Tadikonda, Andhra Pradesh Vundavalli Sridevi has approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) against a group of people for allegedly hurling casteist and sexist remarks at her during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Thullur.

The YSRCP MLA visited the office of the commission and narrated her ordeal to Rekha Sharma the Chairperson of NCW. .The NCW has shown serious concern over discrimination based on gender and caste, and registered a case against unidentified people from Ananthavaram village, it said.
The commission has decided to take up the matter with police officials and sought a report in this matter from the DGP of Andhra Pradesh.
It may be recollected that TDP leaders had insulted MLA Vundavalli Sridevi during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Anantavaram village in Thullur district. TDP Leaders and activists stopped her from taking part in pooja rituals by saying that God will lose his glory if she took part in the pooja as she was a Dalit woman. This issue went viral and people started criticising TDP leaders for insulting a Dalit person in the name of caste.
