Water Levels Continue To Rise At Alarming Pace In Prakasam Barrage

Praksam Barrage - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: The Irrigation department is expecting an inflow of seven lakh cusecs to Prakasam Barrage in the days to come due to heavy rains lashing the region. The water levels in the barrage are increasing every passing hour, Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav said in a statement released on Friday.

In order to assess the water levels in the reservoir and the water inflows, the Minister informed that the department was using drones from past three days with all permissions in place. Due to the excessive flooding and increasing water levels in the Prakasam Barrage, the Minister said that those living in the low lying areas were staring at water logging and inundation problems. He assured that all efforts would be taken to help reach out to such victims and move them out to safe locations.

Meanwhile, he made a scathing attack against the former chief minister and the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for building his private residence on the embankment of Krishna river which is now submerged due to excessive flooding.

He stated that Chandrababu and his aides were making all efforts to save the house from getting inundated by all means and placing sand bags to stop the flooding water reach the property. "Despite several warnings from the authorities, Chandrababu did not listen and he is now facing the wrath of the Mother Nature," he added.
