Sunstroke Kills Vizag Traffic Cop

Visakhapatnam: This year, the summer heat is intensifying by the day. The people are struggling to go about their daily lives with soaring mercury levels. With sunstroke-related incidents being reported across the state, a traffic police official succumbed to death in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as LS Ramakrishna (52) served as a Traffic Head Constable in the city.

According to the report published by a local daily, the traffic cop was regulating the traffic at Pandurangapuram on Sunday. However, upon returning home for lunch, he experienced severe uneasiness and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. While undergoing treatment, he succumbed to death. The doctors informed the family members that sunstroke was the cause of his death.

Alleging that despite being sick, Ramakrishna was not granted leave by his higher officials, the family members said that his health condition worsened after working under the scorching heat. They have demanded a probe into the incident.
