Since 1962, the constituency has seen the Congress and TDP winning the seats in equal terms . However, with the arrival of YSRCP in 2014 it has witnessed a sea of change in the political mindset of the people who are looking for a change of guard. As a local leader in Guntur, Kona Raghupathi is well versed with the issues faced in Bapatla and Vemuru and could give a tough fight to Ananda Babu Nakka of the TDP.
