200 shanties destroyed in a major fire in Kakinada

Kakinada,  A massive fire broke out in Dummulapetaarea in Kakinada town of East Godavari district, which gutted close to 200 shanties. Miraculously there were no casualties.

According to reports, the incident took place around 10:45 pm Wednesday, the reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained. 

"We didn't even get a chance to take our belongings," said a distraught resident. Saalipeta Jaghanadhapuram fire team rushed immediately after they receive the information and bought the situation under control.

Fire officials said that the mishap caused major loss to property and the fire was put out by three fire extinguishers. Senior district officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

According to preliminary estimate by officials, property worth Rs 30 lakh was gutted in the blaze.
