In a shocking incident, Rs 100 is all it took for a husband to kill his wife near Husnabad in Akkannapeta of Karimnagar district on Wednesday night.

The accused, Konduri Srinivas, who hails from Muddur Mandal, Warangal district used to harass his wife daily for money to fund his alcohol habits. On Tuesday, the couple's usual fights took a drastic change when on being refused Rs 100, Srinivas decided to kill his wife.

After everyone had gone off to sleep in the house, Srinivas who used to work as daily labourer in Hyderabad but quit it later, called his wife, also a daily labourer, to the kitchen, took her saree and tied it around her neck. He then went on to hang her from the ceiling. Not satisfied with that, he also poured kerosene on her and burnt her.

The smoke and the stench of burning flesh alerted others in the house. Soon, police was informed by the villagers and Srinivas was taken into custody.
