YSRCP MPs Stand By Decision To Resign From Parliament Tomorrow
New Delhi: YSR Congress Party MPs today announced that they would resign tomorrow as mentioned by their party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and later take up indefinite hunger strike in AP Bhavan. The party MPs addressed a press conference here today.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Delhi visit did not befit the stature of a CM, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said. He remarked that Chandrababu had announced in 2003 that TDP would never forge an alliance with BJP, but looking at the growing popularity graph of Narendra Modi he rode on its wave and came into power.
Mekapati said Chandrababu had always been a power-monger, "but he will be shown the right place by the people in the next elections." He recalled the words of the YSRCP Chief that only Special Category Status (SCS) would help the state. YS Jagan had conducted numerous protests and also an indefinite fast in Guntur, he said. Further, their party Chief had continued the fight for SCS to AP despite TDP government trying to put brakes at all stages.
He said that Chandrababu misguided people by saying that Special Package was much better than SCS. The AP CM had falsely informed people that investments to the tune of Rs 20 lakh crores have come to the state, he stated and pointed out that the state administration till date was being run in temporary buildings. "Union finance minister Arun Jaitley repeated last month what he said in 2016. But the TDP chief seems to have realised only now, and immediately walked out of NDA claiming that centre was doing injustice to AP," he said.
Mekapati expressed his shock over the words of Chandrababu that he never mentioned Special Package and asserted that he had shifted from AP to New Delhi to stage dramas. "On the other hand, YS Jagan has been clear from day one and has announced that if SCS is not granted to AP, the party would move a no-trust vote in Parliament." He also stated emphatically that YSRCP MPs would resign on the last working day on the Parliament session.
Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy told the media persons in Delhi that Chandrababu accepted the Special Package, but has now taken a u turn after witnessing the protests in the state and a movement for SCS was gathering momentum. The AP CM was a past master at opportunistic politics, he said.
Speaking at the press conference, YSRCP MP YV Subba Reddy said that over the last four years NDA had cheated Andhra Pradesh. Both TDP and BJP were responsible for this, he observed. Chandrababu, Modi and Pawan Kalyan had told the people that all the promises made in the AP Bifurcation Act would be fulfilled, he said and pointed out that not even a single promise had been addressed till date. He demanded that centre has to grant SCS to AP as well as fulfill all the promises made in the Act.
Adding to what his colleagues have spoken, YSRCP MP Varaprasad said that after the state’s unscientific division, AP suffered immensely. The centre had promised to grant SCS to offset the loss suffered by AP. In all these years Chandrababu never took up the issue of SCS with the Centre. Had he done so with any measure of earnestness, SCS would have been achieved, he said.
YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy remarked his displeasure over the fact that 12 notices seeking to move a no-confidence motion were not taken up.He called upon the TDP MPs to join hands with them and resign. The centre would yield to their demand if 25 MPs resign and take up indefinite hunger strike, he mentioned.
