YSRCP Kovvur meeting put off
The proposed public meeting of the YSR Congress Party (YRSCP) to be held at Kovvur on Sunday has been put off indefinitely due to heavy rains.
Party senior leader and MLA Balaraju told media persons in Kovvur today that the district has been experiencing heavy downpour for the past four days due to Neelam Cyclone and hence, the YSRCP has decided to put on hold the proposed public meeting.
Huge damage to crops and livestock has been reported due to the floods and the farmers are put to a great hardship. So, the party felt that holding a public meeting at this stage is not correct. “Therefore, we have decided to put off the programme and a new date will soon be announced,” he said.
The MLAs, Rajesh and Vanitha, besides senior leader Krishna Babu will join the YSRCP in the presence of party honorary president Y S Vijayamma at a programme to be held in Hyderabad, he stated. They were initially planning to join the party at the Kovvur meeting and since the programme has now been cancelled they will now be formally taken into the YSR Congress at the meeting to be held in Hyderabad, he explained.
