YSRCP gives no trust motion notice against Speaker - Sakshi Post

The Opposition YSRCP on Wednesday gave a notice for no confidence motion against Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasad. YSRCP MLAs led by deputy floor leader in the Assembly Jyothula Nehru gave the notice to the secretary of the assembly.

YSR Congress Legislature Party has on Tuesday unanimously decided to move a no-confidence motion against the Andhra Pradesh Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao for not conducting the assembly proceedings in a fair manner giving equal opportunity to all the members. It also found fault with the selective leak of non-broadcast TV feed of the Assembly proceedings to social media.
Speaking on the occasion, party MLA Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao said the notice was being given only because they were left with no other alternative. He said the Speaker was behaving in a very partial manner.
"Our party has taken strong objection to the style of functioning of the Speaker and we have to take the unfortunate decision to move the no-confidence motion. We had earlier also thought of moving the motion but gave a second thought assuming that the proceedings would go on smoothly but things did not improve but went from bad to worse," party's deputy floor leader Jyothula Nehru said.
"We were pressing to raise a social issue of Call Money cum Sex racket but the treasury benches were hell bent on not bringing up the issue and had tried many ways to divert the issue. While the Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu had moved a motion to suspend a member for one day the Speaker had made it two days.
In the other case of suspension of Roja,  the Speaker had gone beyond the frame of the quoted rule no 340 sub-clause (2) which clearly says that a member can be suspended only to the extent of the ongoing session. She was suspended for one year.
