Youth Attacks Woman With Knife At Erragadda Rythu Bazar

Hyderabad: A mentally deranged youth attacked a married woman with a coconut cutter on Erragadda main road in broad daylight on Monday.

Accused Ravikumar was harassing Sravanthi for a few months now in the name of love. Sravanthi's family was living in a house beside Ravi's house in Sanathnagar area sometime back. She rejected his proposal and got married to another person and the couple lives in Himayathnagar. Ravi had been visiting her place every now and then and pressurized her to marry him. The couple lodged a complaint with the SR Nagar police who had only counselled him and left him without registering a case.

Ravikumar again went to Sravanthi's house on Sunday and created nuisance. On Monday, the woman went to his house to inform his parents of the harassment. When she returned from the place, Ravikumar chased her on a bike. Sravanthi called her friend and asked her to come to Erragadda Rythubazar area to pick her up. As her friend came and they were going away from the place on their bike, Ravikumar picked a knife from a coconut vendor nearby and attacked the woman indiscriminately.

Sravanthi sustained serious injuries on her head, neck and hands. The passersby intervened and contained the youth who was handed over to the police later.

The woman is undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital and her condition is stated to be serious.
