Woman Kills Husband, Sleeps With Body For 2 Days
New Delhi: A 32-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband in Kapashera in the city.
According to police, Shilpa Adhikari, a native of West Bengal is working as a house keeping employee at the Royal Bank of Scotland in New Delhi. She was married to Nitish 12 years ago. The couple has a daughter and a son, who are studying in Midnapur in West Bengal. Addicted to alcohol, Nitish would beat her repeatedly and take her money to consume liquor regularly.
Fed up with the husband's torture she planned to kill him. Shilpa offered him alcohol on Saturday saying that it was her treat. The woman then strangulated her husband when he was in a deep sleep. Unsure about what to do next, Shilpa continued to sleep in the room for two days. On the third day, Shilpa called her neighbors and said that her husband passed away due to heart attack.
The neighbors helped her in cremating the body and when they reached the grave yard, a man saw the strangulation marks on Nitish's body and informed police. The police arrived at the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. When questioned, Shilpa confessed the crime. "He dragged me from the bed each night after he came home drunk and thrashed me and humiliated me in front of the neighbors. I threatened him that I would kill him. He did not listen. He did not leave me an option," Shilpa told police.
The police registered a case and took her to custody.
