Hearing the gunshots on the ground floor, Vikram's wife Shifali rushed to the spot, where she found him lying in a pool of blood. The family immediately rushed him to Jubilee Hills Apollo Hospital. Doctors later said that he was out of danger.

Police clues team with dog squads visited Vikram's residence in Gayatri Hills near Hafeez Baba Nagar.

The attackers shot three rounds of fire at him and fled the spot. Vikram returned home late night after 12.30am after participating in a social program and woke up at 3am to perform a Pooja when he was attacked.
